Prosegur Cybersecurity Introduces Retrospective Threat Hunting to Uncover Hidden Threats
Prosegur Cybersecurity launches Retrospective Threat Hunting, an automated SOC by MDR capability that rechecks past data against new threat intel.
Some cyberattacks leave traces long before anyone knows what to look for. A login, a process or a network connection can look routine when it is recorded, and only reveal itself as malicious weeks later, once researchers identify the attacker's methods. By then, the evidence is often sitting in logs that no one is checking anymore.
That gap matters. Attackers who go unnoticed have time to move through a network, steal data or lay the groundwork for a larger attack, and every day they stay hidden makes the eventual cleanup harder and more costly.
Prosegur Cybersecurity, the cybersecurity unit of Prosegur Security, has introduced a new capability designed to close that gap. Retrospective Threat Hunting is an agent-based tool developed by the company's own cybersecurity engineering team and built into its managed detection and response (MDR) service. Rather than only watching for threats as they happen, it revisits past activity every time new threat intelligence arrives, so earlier warning signs are not left behind.
How it works
The SOC by MDR service receives a constant stream of threat intelligence about new attacker tactics, techniques and procedures. Retrospective Threat Hunting applies that intelligence to the past. Each time relevant new information emerges, the system automatically searches historical data from client environments for signs that the newly identified activity has already occurred.
If it finds a match, the tool opens a new investigation for the affected client, and Prosegur Cybersecurity's analysts take it from there.
"When Retrohunting detects a relevant match, it automatically generates a new investigation for the affected client, which then becomes part of the work carried out by Prosegur Cybersecurity's specialists," said Carlos A. Fernández, director of Prosegur Cybersecurity's MDR platform. "Retrohunting combines automation and specialized monitoring to streamline the validation of potential incidents and accelerate the implementation of response measures when necessary."
Why it matters
Conventional detection can only act on what is known at the moment an event is logged. Looking back with fresh intelligence gives organizations a way to catch compromises that slipped through the first time, and to reduce the risk of attackers sitting unnoticed in their networks.
The launch also reflects a broader shift. Attacks are becoming more advanced, more of every organization's operations now run on connected systems, and global tensions are putting critical infrastructure and essential services under greater pressure. Cyber resilience now sits alongside physical security and business continuity on leadership agendas.
"We believe that the true revolution will not come from a single technology, but from the ability to integrate intelligence, automation, and expert knowledge into a connected ecosystem that accelerates innovation, enables the anticipation of threats, and strengthens technological autonomy," Fernández said.
Retrospective Threat Hunting is the latest addition to Prosegur's managed detection and response (MDR) service, which already provides round-the-clock monitoring, detection and response from our Security Operations Center for organizations in every industry.
