How a national transportation operator brought one structure to 50+ annual audits across IT, OT, and compliance.
When you run critical infrastructure, more audits is not the same as more secure. This operator was already running over 50 cybersecurity audits a year across 46 airports and two heliports, and still could not see its risk clearly. What it lacked was a single structure connecting Compliance, IT, and OT. Running more audits could not provide that.
What we achieved
The Situation
Thirteen thousand employees. Forty-six airports and two heliports. Operational technology that keeps runways and terminals moving, sitting alongside corporate IT and a long list of overlapping regulations. Assessing digital risk across all of that, department by department and audit by audit, had outgrown the way it was managed.
Boardroom Stakes
Airports are critical national infrastructure, so the people running them answer to regulators for both IT and OT, not IT alone. They need to show clearly, and on request, that security is managed as one program across the whole operation. That is far easier from a single structure than from dozens of separate audits.
A New Way
Prosegur Cybersecurity built one cybersecurity plan around the OT systems rather than adding security on top of them. We mapped the current state across business processes and technology, identified the gaps, and brought Compliance, IT, and OT into a single framework, including the points where physical and digital systems meet. Organization-wide training followed, to raise the baseline everywhere at once.
